While generally frowned upon in Islam, it is perfectly legitimate for the Muslim to use deceit against the non-Muslim. This is especially true in cases where it is necessary to fool, or protect the furtherance of Islam. This is called taqiyya, and kitman. Taqiyya originated in Shi’a Islam, but is now practiced by all schools. And this is where things start to get scary.
One of the first things Muslims use to deceive people is to present them the ever peaceful verse of the Quran 5:32. This is done to put Islam, as a religion (which it’s not) in a positive light.
whoever kills a soul … it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.

Of course that is absurd when looking at verse 5:32, because it’s taken out of context.
The next line of defense is to say that the Qu’ran can only be understood in the native Arabic, as though it is a language that cannot be translated. There are, of course, concepts in all languages that cannot be translated, or differ. Such as in Spanish a fistfight is cuerpo a cuerpo. This literally translates to body to body. In English that would sound overtly sexual, but that is how to say fistfight in Spanish. The claim that Arabic has so many differences, and that it could not be understood in another language is patently absurd. Either it can be translated, or it cannot be translated. If it cannot be translated then there is no hope of anyone who cannot natively speak Arabic to understand the Qu’ran. And here is the great problem. It is not necessary for the believer to understand the Qu’ran as it must be recited in Arabic. That is the proper way to soothe Allah. Again, it is necessary for the believer to recite, but not understand the Arabic.
And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.

Unfortunately this verse is apologetic translation, as the root word used where the word planned is, is makr. That is, to deceive. So a more accurate translation would be:
And the disbelievers deceived, but Allah deceived. And Allah is the best of deceivers.

Also there are cases, that are not isolated, of Muslim groups raising money for charity, then turning around and giving the money to terrorist jihadists. Some are even so brazen as to write one thing in English, and then another in Arabic on posters. This was also done in the Arabic world. This may come as a surprise, but the Charlie Hebdo attacks were praised in the Middle East, while at the same time condemned.
Furthermore the addition to jihad being an inner struggle is a recent one, less than a hundred years old. Jihad (to struggle) has always been against the infidel. Historically, jihad has always been holy war against the non-believer to get them to submit to Islamic rule. Only when Islamic nations have been in decline have they not waged jihad, and this is thus, a lie by omission. Peace, was in fact, only given when the jihadists were at a disadvantage. It was a ploy so that they could gather their forces and attack from a stronger position later.
The 9/11 hijackers played this so well as do many others. In secret they plot. Otherwise they go to bars and socialize. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the last remaining Boston bomber is quoted as having said about the bombings that it’s just too bad. And he went on about his life normally.
This is not to say that all Muslims are liars. The claim, on its face, is absurd. There is, in all religions, people who do not practice, and are ignorant of the teachings, but profess to be believers in the faith. But how do you know who is practicing religious deception, and who is not?
I keep hearing excuses as to why it must be some other reason when Islamic jihadists attack a newspaper. When cartoonists are threatened for drawing the prophet Mohammed. When embassies burn. There must be some other reason when they leave manifestos and videos explicitly stating Islam. When they shout the war cry, “Allahu Akbar” after having gunned down, or evaporated people with explosives, there has to be some other reason. When educated men with Ph.D.s fly airplanes into skyscrapers, it must be because they were oppressed and poor. It is only racism and Islamophobia, we just haven’t been accepting enough of their culture and religious beliefs. It’s our fault. This, my friend, is how far the lies have gone. Maybe we need to stop fishing for other reasons and simply take them at their word for it. They’re killing us because of Islam’s teachings.
